If you plan to attend a display, consider standing at a safe distance, and if you’re especially sensitive, wearing ear protection over your hearing aids can help dampen the loudest blasts without removing your devices entirely. If your hearing aids have a program for noisy environments, now is the perfect time to activate it. Many modern devices include “event,” “restaurant,” or “crowd” modes that help focus on speech and reduce overwhelming background noise. Outdoor gatherings also bring extra moisture and mess.
